25-26 THS Parent Update

August 7th, 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare to welcome students back for the new school year at Towanda Jr./Sr. High School, we’d like to share a few important updates designed to improve safety, efficiency, and communication across our campus.

Over the summer, we installed a sliding window at the front of the main office. This change will help our staff assist families and visitors more efficiently while also reducing unnecessary foot traffic in the office. The window provides increased safety by limiting direct access to the office, and allows quick questions, sign-outs, and deliveries to be handled more smoothly. Parents/guardians will now sign students out at the window, and students will be sent out to your vehicle. Please note that this is for the High School only, this does not apply to J. Andrew Morrow or the Towanda Elementary School.

To promote a focused learning environment, our cell phone policy has been updated. A full copy is attached and will be included in the student handbook. All personal electronic devices (cell phones, earbuds, etc.) must remain off and stored in their locker or backpack during school hours. Students in grades 9-12 may use phones in the cafeteria during lunch only. Students in grades 7-8 may not use phones during lunch. Repeated violations will result in consequences, including loss of privileges and disciplinary action. In emergencies, please contact the main office. Students may use their phones in the office with administrative permission.

Beginning this school year, dismissal time will be 3:00 PM. There will now be three parent pickup locations available after school: the gym side, the auditorium side, and the lower (Junior) parking lot. If you are picking up on the auditorium side, you will have to wait until the buses have left the high school hill before you can exit the lot. All traffic must exit toward Plank Road/State Street- there will be no access to exit via Fourth Street. Please note that the lower parking lot tends to be the least congested and may offer a quicker and easier pickup option.

Several of our back-to-school forms will now be available online and fillable, making the process more convenient for families. You will receive a notification when they are ready to access and complete.

We appreciate your continued support as we begin another great school year. Please don’t hesitate to contact the main office with any questions.

Sincerely,

Nate Ross, Principal
Clay Weaver, Assistant Principal
